Hi HBFD Junior Lifeguard Parents,

Ninety percent of the Friends of the HBJG water bottles are in the office and ready for pickup. The last few will be finished tomorrow. There are some discontinued colors like red, which is no longer available. We can switch out the new colors for those discontinued. If none of the colors are right for you, the Friends of the HBJG will send you a refund. If you would like to purchase a water bottle come into the front office. There are 24 oz. and 32 oz. sizes.

Thank you,

Friends of HBJG’s

B Parents, On Thursday, August 5, 2021, the B Division will be having their Whale Watching Trip in Newport Beach. Due to capacity restrictions on the boats, we will be going in two different groups at different times.

A.M. Drop-off: 8 a.m.-8:15 a.m. Boat Ride: 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Pick-up: 11:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

PM

Drop-off: 11:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m

Boat Ride: 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

Pick-up: 3:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Junior guards should be dropped off at the proper time. We will take roll and then walk as a group to Davey’s Locker, where we will check in and load the boats. The boats will depart for a two and a half hour whale watching voyage. After the boat ride, JGs will return to the beach where they will be picked up. Newport Beach Junior Guards will be having their last day so expect heavier than normal traffic when dropping off and picking up. Junior guards must wear their uniform and be wearing shoes or sandals at all times. They also need to bring a mask, which is required on the boat. The boat ride may get bumpy, and kids do tend to get a little nauseated from the motion of the boat. If you know your child is susceptible to seasickness, please take the necessary precautions. Please let us know if your junior guard will not be attending this trip as we need an accurate head count by Thursday, July 29 TOMORROW. Due to U.S. Coast Guard Manifest requirements, we are unable to accommodate any switches, late arrivals, or early dismissals. Junior guards will not be penalized if they are unable to attend and do not need to show up to regular junior guards if they are not going Whale Watching. Directions: Take PCH south toward Newport Beach. Turn right on Balboa Blvd., and then follow signs toward the Balboa Pier. Continue on W. Balboa Blvd. until you go under the arch that says “Balboa Village”. Turn right on Palm Street towards Balboa Pier Parking and follow the signs into the Balboa Municipal Parking lot. Turn right and drop your junior guards off at the northern end of the parking lot where instructors will be waiting. Please see the attached map for more details. You will not have to pay unless you decide to park for an extended period of time. Thank you, Logan Miller and Sierra Page B Group Leaders
