Does my returning HBJG need to tryout?No, returning 2024 HBJGs do not have to try out again. Make sure to register during the Returning Registration period to ensure your HBJGs status. Please check your email for all the information. If you are not receiving emails, please check your email address registered in www.HBSands.org.

How do a become an HBJG or Sand Crab?The first step is to create an account on www.HBSands.org, as a parent. Then children can be added to the account. Use the "Catalog" tab to navigate to "Marine Safety Education". Both HBJGs and Sand Crabs have a swim test/tryout. Each child must register for a swim test/tryout.

What are the swim test requirements?The swim requirements for HBJGs, ages 9 to 17 years old, as of July 1, are as follows: Swim 100 yards at or under one minute and fifty seconds. Tread water for 5 minutes. Swim underwater 10 yards at least three feet deep. The swim requirements for Sand Crabs, ages 7 to 8 years old, as of July 1, are as follows: Swim 50 yards at or under one minute and fifteen seconds. Tread water for 2 minutes. Swim underwater for 5 yards.
