2026 PROGRAM SCHEDULE: June 22 through August 6, 2026, Monday through Thursday, Fridays*
Morning Session 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon Session 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

SAND CRAB GROUP SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, with morning and afternoon sessions.

*Fridays are optional and reserved for events, off-campus field trips, and optional surf days. More information to follow for registered participants.
REQUIREMENTS: Open to boys and girls ages 9 through 17 (as of July 1, 2026). Applicants must possess a basic swimming ability to be able to pass the following prerequisite exams:
Divisions:
A 14-17 years old
B 12-13 years old
C 9-11 years old
​Sand Crabs 7-8 years old

Registration Fees:
HB Junior Lifeguard Program: $654 for resident or $681 for non-resident, one session per participant
Sand Crab: $240 per participant, one session per participant.
STEPS TO ENROLL

Registration opens mid January 2026 for Tryout appointments!

All 2026 Enrollment will take place on www.HBSANDS.org
​
Step 1.
Create an account on HBSands.org. Start by adding parent information first, then add your children as additional members to your account.

Step 2.
After creating an account you may register for a Junior Lifeguard Swim Test or Sand Crab Swim test. To enroll in a swim test, Navigate to Marine Safety Education Tab and select either Sand Crab Swim Test or Junior Lifeguard Swim Test. Select an appointment and register your child.

Step 3.
Successfully complete the Junior Lifeguard Swim Test or Sand Crab Swim Test.
Step 4.
Upon successful completion of the swim test, you will receive specific instructions on registration/payment. We will enter your information into our system and registration will be enabled on your account. This may take a few days to process.

Step 5.
Once registration is enabled on your account (after your child successfully completes the tryout), on HBSands.org navigate to Marine Safety Education then Junior Lifeguards / Sand Crabs. Select AM or PM session and enroll. If a class is full you may opt to be placed on the waitlist. The HBJG Program is $654 for residents and $681 for non-residents. Sand Crabs are $240. One class per child.
Due to the high demand for AM session enrollment in the C and B age groups, there will be a lottery for AM session placement. More details on the AM session lottery will be sent at a later date.
Sand Crab AM session will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
