There are new flags implemented for the HBFD Junior Lifeguard Program. The color system is orange for Sand Crabs, yellow for the Cs, red for the Bs, green for As, pink for the Safety Aides, and white for the Captains.

When a colored flag is raised, it means that there is a major event for the majority of the group. For example, if the C flag is raised, it means most of the C groups will be doing an event. The exception is when two groups do an event, there will not be a flag waving.

The Junior Lifeguard Surf Camp starts next week and is open to all Junior Lifeguards, 9 to 17 years old. The Surf Camp runs 6:15 a.m. to 7:15 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday, from July 13 to August 12. No experience needed. There is no cost to registered Junior Lifeguards.

You can bring your own board if you want. Boards will be provided if you don't have one.

Hi Junior Lifeguard and Sand Crab Parents,

Please follow the guidelines regarding all the parking lots at the beach, especially at drop off and pick up:

  • Drive slowly in all parking lots.

  • Show your paper parking pass to the lot attendant.

  • Drop off your child at the designated zone.

  • Do not leave your vehicle in the No Parking and Loading Zone. The Parking Division is citing for vehicles parked in these areas.
